If you are striving for a productive and effective workplace, make sure you have an organized office. It does not matter whether you work from home or remotely, the way in which you organize everything has a profound effect on your frame of mind, your productivity and your ultimate job success.
Office organization checklists begin with the removal of clutter. If you have to wade through piles of folders or find that your desk drawers are stuffed with papers which have not been filed properly then you are going to be having a hard time finding important items. Essential bits and pieces should be firmly within your grasp, whilst most important documents and files should be placed appropriately to allow you to work in a less hectic manner.
Your office should be organized in a way that enables you to approach each task with confidence and ease. Make use of storage space and properly label file boxes and cabinets for easy reference. Your desk should only have on it the important items, like the phone, card file, desk calendar, in and out trays, and your computer if you dont have a separate computer workstation.
All workplaces must make the best use of filing, as this is at the core of office organization. Rule number one — make it simple and easy to maintain. Hanging File folders should be created for each subject and there should be specific categories of color-coded files to help in locating information.
Efficient storage forms a major part of any office organization protocol. When you have files that are barely used, make sure that they are kept stored in boxes or scanned and put on a backup drive if you need to keep them. Sometimes bulky magazines, other large items or catalogs are required to be kept, so they should be stored neatly in categorized boxes, by issue, title and date.
Organizing trays are often used within an efficient office organization. They can be used for mail which needs to be filed, reviewed or processed. They can also contain room for paper clips, pens and so on — and frequently used office items that should be at your fingertips at all times.
Among the office organization tips that keep you on track throughout the day are using desktop organizers to manage the array of memos and documents that come your way, clearing your desk of all work at days end, and preparing a to-do list at the end of the day so youre focused and ready to go first thing in the morning.
Whether large or small, most offices share the same problem: organization. It is particularly challenging for professionals who are self employed and handle all aspects of the business themselves. But once you implement organization measures, your office will run much more smoothly and you will find that you can get much more accomplished in the day.

The final two days before your move will go by in a blur of last-minute packing, cleaning, organizing and very little sleep. Your schedule should be free of all activities unrelated to your move by now.
In addition to the chores mentioned above, below are some things you’ll need to be sure have been taken care of at this point.
You should have written confirmation that the utility bills at your old address will no longer be in your name two days from now, and that the utilities in your new home will be fully functioning for your arrival.
All of your important papers should be in a safe but accessible place. It’s a good idea to make copies of tax records, wills, and any other essential documents and store them in a safety deposit box or other secure location.
Use up or toss out any food remaining in your refrigerator and freezer. Even though it’s not the healthiest choice, it’s better to rely on takeout and fast food these last two days, to cut down on the amount of cooking and last-minute cleaning you’ll need to do.
It’s important to say a proper farewell to the friends and neighbors you’ve shared your life with before leaving the old neighborhood for good. If you can, consider hosting a small catered party just before you leave. You might even get people to pitch in with some of the packing and cleaning!
Expect these last forty-eight hours to be crazy, but don’t panic. You can get everything done if make sure you have a list of everything still left to do, and you complete each item fully before moving on to the next one.
